From start to finish

Here is a detailed look at how I created my pumpkin for the Big E cake decorating contest.

First I stacked two 10" cakes and 4 12" cakes and secured them with a dowel. It took me 11 boxes of Betty Crocker Pound cake mix!


Second, I carved the general pumpkin shape.


Third, I drew where I wanted the ridges to be with a food safe marker.



Fourth, I carved the ridges.


Fifth, I filled the layers.


Sixth, I crumb coated the entire pumpkin.


Seventh, I covered it in fondant.


And finally, I added all the fun details, piped the letters, and airbrushed it!
